We at The Goa Jazz Academy in Goa would like to formally propose that our school be the host of the International Jazz Day Festival.
The Goa Jazz Academy is one of the country’s leading institutes for professional music education. We firmly commit to promoting jazz music and culture and giving back to our community. We are particularly proud of our scholarship program, which has offered over a hundred scholarships to aspiring musicians from Tier-2 and 3 cities across India who do not have access to or opportunities for higher music education. This program is a testament to our commitment to promoting jazz music and culture and giving back to our community.
Goa is a vibrant and culturally rich state in India, known for its diverse music scene. In 2019, UNESCO Director Eric Falt awarded us (GJA) as the official India host of the International Jazz Day. We mutually agreed with UNESCO to postpone the event due to the onset of COVID-19 pandemic. As things settle, we now have the facilities, staff, and community support to host a successful and impactful festival in adherence to all safety protocols.
We have planned various activities for the festival, including workshops, concerts, and seminars that will take place over two days. These activities will be led by renowned jazz musicians and educators from around the world and will provide an opportunity for jazz enthusiasts of all levels to learn, grow, and be inspired by the music.
